Paint Protection Film — Oregon City & Portland Metro

Virtually invisible urethane film applied to your paint to defend against rock chips, road debris, and UV damage — permanently.

Paint Protection Film installation on vehicle hood — showing film edge and glass-like clarity

Paint Protection Film, commonly called PPF or clear bra, is a thermoplastic urethane film applied to painted surfaces to absorb the physical impacts that damage paint — stone chips from highway driving, door edge rubs in parking lots, debris kicked up by vehicles ahead, and the UV exposure that slowly degrades and yellows clear coat over time. Unlike ceramic coatings, which add chemical resistance, PPF adds genuine physical impact resistance. A rock that would leave a chip in bare paint will bounce harmlessly off PPF-protected paint.

Modern PPF has come a long way from the thick, yellowing film of the 1990s. Today's films are optically clear, self-healing (minor scratches in the film disappear with heat), and formulated to resist yellowing and staining for five to ten years or more. The film is computer-cut to exact panel patterns for your specific vehicle make, model, and year, ensuring clean edges that follow body lines naturally. When properly installed, PPF is nearly invisible on light-colored vehicles and adds a subtle gloss enhancement to dark vehicles.

Oregon drivers who regularly travel Highway 26 to Mount Hood, Interstate 5 through the industrial corridor, or rural roads through Clackamas County and the Cascades know how quickly a pristine hood can be destroyed by rock chips. High-speed highway driving is the single biggest source of PPF damage, and the front of the vehicle — hood leading edge, front bumper, and fenders — takes the worst of it. A partial PPF package on these impact zones represents excellent value protection for new and pre-owned vehicles alike.

For maximum protection, PPF can be combined with a ceramic coating applied over the top. The PPF provides physical protection from impact, while the ceramic coating over it makes the surface easier to clean and adds UV resistance to the film itself. This combination — often called a "PPF + Ceramic" package — is the highest level of paint protection available and is increasingly popular for luxury vehicles, new cars, and enthusiast vehicles in the Portland metro area. Paint should also be examined and corrected if needed before film is applied.

👥 Self-Healing PPF Technology

The top coat of modern PPF contains polymers that flow back into place when heated — either by sunlight or warm water. Light swirl marks and fine scratches in the film surface essentially disappear on their own over the course of a warm Oregon summer afternoon. This self-healing property keeps the film looking new throughout its lifespan, something that no wax or ceramic coating alone can offer.
